I sent the person a message. No response. Sounds like a scam. Anyone who's better at reading into this, can you confirm?
Dvorak probably wrote the the fourteen notes in New World Symphony to get his tuba friends a gig.

Well, whatever, but he lists it as one of the versions with the Big Valve set ("large valve") but it is NOT. This is an old 2165 with the valves used on them BEFORE the Big Valve set became available.

He speaks about it like he is selling it on consignment and does not know much about tubas.

I would ask for some very specific photos before even thinking of bidding. Ask for stuff a scammer could not anticipate, that would require them to have the horn at hand, like a shot of the 5th rotor cap or of the back side of the 5th valve with the cap off of it.

It could be stolen, or it could be a human being who has seen how stupid it is to try and get a full time gig in a symphony as a tuba player. One never knows...

WARNING: Never post your tuba's serial number without an XX at the end. This throws the crooks off the scent. True story.

This is a scam. Some hacker probably got into someone's account and posted this. These pictures have been used at least 2 dozen times over the last 5-8 years.

I asked a few questions. If there is no reserve, and this were a reasonable example of an early 2165 without the big valves, and this is not a scam, I might actually think about bidding on it. At this point, I am highly skeptical.
All that, plus $8.00, will get you a venti at Starbucks.
Or in my case, a large can of Folgers.

Not surprisingly, I never received a reply.
