Have any of you ever toured the Meinl Weston Factory?
I will be in Europe this July and in Munich for several days. Would you say it is worth half a day to visit the factory?
Thanks
Stefan

You can take the s-ban to wolfrathausan then a bus to get to gerestied. It will take about an hour to get there but worth the trip. German country side doesn't get any prettier, plus as you get closer to to Wolfrathausan, on a clear day, you can see the Austrian alps. I think there is a place to eat just across the train station that is elevated and the view is awesome!
While in Munich, go to hofbrauhaus, but after wards when you leave take a left out of the front door and down the small street is this pastry place. OH MY GOD!! everything in that place is sinfully good.
Good eating,
Albert

Your choice of course. But Nirschl is literally walking distance from MW, and gives you much more a 'tuba shop' feel, as opposed to 'tuba factory'.Stefan wrote:I am only in Munich for 3.5 days and there is a lot more things I want to do. So I figure just the factory of the tuba I own will be good enough.
You'll enjoy either though!

If it is really that close, maybe I will consider it. The fact that Meinl Weston has an invitation on their website to tour the factory makes it seem much more friendly. I can't even find any information for Nirschl. That's actually pretty amazing that 2 major tuba manufacturers have their factory in the same small town.

Just make sure some of that beer drinking time is spent in Augustiner Biergarten. It is on the corner of Arnulfstraße and Circus Krone, not far from the Hauptbahnhof. It is not full of (otherStefan wrote:Takes away from beer drinking time

If you do find some extra time in München, it is always nice to visit Bob Tucci in Eichenau.
