Dynasty 4 valve BBb Contras (silver) 4 available

Postby egk » Tue Jun 26, 2018 2:31 pm

Selling (4) Dynasty 4 valve BBb contras that are each about 12 years old. They are in mechanically good condition, valves and slides all pull. I can think of only one broken brace near the leadpipe of one horn. Usual dents and dings for age. Nice big sound, hard to over blow. I'll have to find out if they are the 19'' or 20'' bell model. No hard cases (2 soft cases in poor condition).

Please see photos here: https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/ ... 05394.html

Asking $2500 each - very negotiable for quick sale / buying multiple.
Willing to ship CONUS ONLY.

I've got more photos and videos if you need more info on the horns.

Sorry if I missed any needed info - this is my first time posting, but I do remember checking out tubenet daily when I was in HS in the late 90's.

A few of my friends want to switch our high school sousaphones with contras. This looks like a good deal

I don’t know if they were MN Brass horns. And yes, a good deal to be had.

These are BEASTLY, Willson-made horns. Probably not best suited for high school use.

I have one and with enough air, can hurt people.

I really want one but am skosh funds at this time, and it won't be until Christmas when I again have that much to spend.

I hope you sell these, but if you still have one in December it will mostly likely be mine by January. 8)

Good luck with your sale. These are great horns for their intended purpose and are ruggedly built with great valves.

BUMP!

These were Willson-made back in the day. They have "Willson" on the valves despite having "DEG Dynasty" on the bells. The upper brass were all Weril, however. Correct me if I am wrong. I owned one of these some time back. It was one of the GG super mags. Might have been Willson parts made to order, and assembled in WI, not sure. I was assuming these newer BBb horns were also Willson-made instruments (or Willson-made parts assembled in WI).

The valvesets (surely, entire instruments) are definitely Weril on these, as I've worked on both Weril (DEG Dynasty) contras and sousaphones (and bought replacement parts from Arthur Weingrill in Brazil). I'm sure I'm correct on this.
...but yes (absolutely correct on this point) early on, DEG had these built in Switzerland.

Here is one of the for-sale contra's (FIRST) and Uncle Beer's for-sale Weril-made sousaphone (NEXT). Notice the similarities:

At the risk of this really detracting from this well-listed ad for some BBb Contras, has anyone played one of these (seems to be Yamaha-esque Weril-Nirschl) F-tuba collaborations?

@ The Elephant - I've been getting a lot of tire kickers. So chances are I'll still have one of these horns waiting for you at christmas time. Keep in touch and we will figure out shipping / transport.
