Hey all, I am just looking for a Helleberg or something cheap (must be plated brass, I do not want a plastic mouthpiece). I am stuck in another season of marching band and do not have a mouthpiece that I would dare use on a sousaphone. Looking at 50 or less. Thanks!

The Blessing 18 is a better Bach 18 than Bach makes. It is an excellent copy of a very good example and they are very consistent. Pretty large, not huge. In your price range. $43.45 shipped to your door. 100% positive feedback.

Thanks for the lead Wade! I have tried the 18 route but it just does not work for me personally. (Rim is too wide for me) something in the 32.3 or smaller rims are perfect!

My personal choice for a "throwaway" (bur real) mouthpiece for marching band is the old Conn Helleberg. It has its flaws, but it works well in most situations. It is the Honda Accord of the tuba mouthpiece world. However, you put a cap at abut $50 and a new 120S is about $80, and most places charge for shipping, too. (This is assuming that you even like the whole semi-funnel Helleberg style of cup.)

Perhaps you could find a used 120S in good shape for that price. Just trying to help. For $50 you will probably not find anything remotely modern like your Parker. It will have to be plated brass, one piece, and of an older design. There may be some inexpensive copies of pieces you like or would do well with, but some copies sort of suck. (The Blessing I listed above being a notable exception as it is better than the original that you can get today.)

Let me surf eBay for a few minutes.

Here is a new one with an open (and sort of crappy looking) box. $69 and FREE shipping. *IF* you want to go that route this is the cheapest I could locate.

Good luck, either way, sir.

I've got a 120S Helleberg in the box. Used 2 or 3 times. $45 and I'll ship it free. Pm me if you'd like some pictures.
