What case fits a Miraphone Norwegian Star?

Postby SouthernOhio53 » Thu Nov 08, 2018 6:09 pm

I am ordering a Norwegian Star (Miraphone EEb) which will come without case. If anyone has one already, what case do you use?

The Wessex foam case (older style before they went to plastic) for a Compensating Eb tuba (eg Besson 3+1 style Eb tuba) also fits, if you pull out the foam to make way for the valve mechanism. So possibly any of the 3+1 Eb tuba cases might fit with a bit of modification.

Miraphone gig bags are probably some of the best bags I have ever owned. I had a NS with the bag, and it is literally made for it. Unless you want a hard case, get the bag that fits it.

I use the MTS 1204V case for my Miraphone Norwegian Star. It is a perfect fit.

Be sure and buy it when the discount is in effect.

The 15% discount and free shipping should be in effect around Thanksgiving. Also, check Woodwind and Brasswind for the sale. They are also part of GCI and run comparable sales promotions.

Hi, I should have elaborated in my earlier post - my Norwegian Star came with a Miraphone gigbag. It's a really good gigbag and it seems a notch above most other gigbags.

But I use a hard case on mine for normal use and just leave the gigbag for occasional use. The Wessex/Jin Bao Eb older style foam body case is what I use on a daily basis. Just prefer them over gig bags in terms of protection. If you can pick one up free/cheap they work well enough. They are also quite light.

The Miraphone bags are top notch quality. I liked my NS gig bag so much I bought a Miraphone bag for my 187. Awesome bags.

They are a cool blue color and the nylon is pretty heavy and stiff. They have good padding and a hard bell cover to protect the bell.
They are not inexpensive but you get what you pay for.
