Building a Low Pitch Tuning Slide

Postby Tundratubast » Mon Mar 25, 2019 8:42 pm

Im needing a little help on building a main slide of a turn of the century Lyons-Healy Eb High Pitch tuba. It seem to me i'm needing to create a new slede that will extend the bugle approximately 8". I determined this by subtracting the bugle of a HP from a LP horn, allowing the slide to acoomodate the final discrepancy in lengths. The bore is of the HP slide is .595. It will not be simply to build a new slide, one leg will require a dogleg to get by one of the inner branches.

I'll post a picture of it shortly.

Any help or suggestion will be graciously accepted.

Contact TubaTinker. He built one for me, out of necessity. My Bessophone used to have a detachable bell, and the person I purchased it from had put a chopped St Pete bell on it, which shortened the stack, effectively making it high pitch. TubaTinker made a great extended main valve slide for me that brought my tuba back down to pitch.

iiipopes,

Thank you I will. I had actually thought about reaching to Dan before.

Solved, it only took one shortening of the replacement tuning slide.
