Sidey SSH replacement

Just looking for some assistance, I have been using and having success with the Sidey SSH mouthpiece with the Euro shank for my main tuba. I was trying to track down one with the standard shank for when I am playing sousaphone with little luck.

Would the Kellyberg be a good option for consistent feel or should I hold out and see if a used Sidey comes along?

I am no mouthpiece craftsman, but my guess would be that really imitating the SSH profile might be more about the "bite" curve at the inside edge of the cup. So there might be more to it than just a flat top. Not a super expensive experiment, though.

Thank you for the help, I think it is worth a try since I do not play sousaphone very often I may not notice the difference too much.

Thanks again for the help, I am going to try the replacement without modification first, and I also think I have a line on a Sidey SSH classic. I guess that is how you end up with a bunch of mps

I don't have a SSH to compare to but I feel the biggest difference in the Kellyberg compared to other HBs is the bore. It feels smaller on the Kellyberg than the others. A bit stuffy. I've actually considered taking it to my repair guy to ask him to open it up a bit.

But that might not bother you too much depending on what sort of sousaphoning you're up to.
