WTB: King 1251 (4-valve) Sousaphone

Post by MrBasseyPants »

Hi all, I am looking for a King 1251 4-valve sousaphone. This is in their symphony line and has a .687 bore. Matte or bright silver finish with most of it in tact. A gold wash bell if possible. Ideally this instrument would have been made in the 1920s or 1930s.

I know this is a tall order as even the 3 valve 1250s are rare. However, I am hopeful someone has one or knows of one. I am not opposed to a fixer/upper if it is repairable.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I *think* J. Landress Brass in NYC has one of these for sale at a good price.

That is a $3500 horn tops...maybe $4000....maybe.

I bought my 1271 Giant and the 1265 Jumbo (when it had 3 valves) for under that asking price.

Then again, they are rare....but the 1271 is an amazing horn.
