A nice large tuba made in USA by Olds in Abilene, TX. The Reynolds version of this tuba was made in the same factory and was mechanically identical, so the bell is a perfect fit.
S/N O665xxx dates it to c.1968-1969.
Bore: .687″
Bell: 20″
BB♭ Tuba | Removable upright bell | Valves: four front-action piston valves | Finish: brass with lacquer finish; | 46″ height
This horn was mechanically refurbished by Taylor Music, including valve replating, so all slides and valves are working great. I did not have the finish redone as I like the vintage look; lacquer is probably about 80% on body, 70% on bell. Only notable dents are in the bottom bow area (pictured).
The overall sound and response is very similar to the old model King 1241/2341, but a bigger sound. If the King is a 4/4, this is a 5/4.
Located in Tucson, AZ, USA. Shipping to lower 48 US states only will be by Greyhound Package Express, so please make sure you have a Greyhound bus station nearby that does package service before buying.
Thanks for looking and have a great day.
