I had custom made a 163 CC, yellow brass with gold brass bell, unlacquered SIX valve that was a great tuba. It went away when I sold my business (The Low Brass Werks) just because I couldn't afford to keep it. I had to sell SOMETHING and unfortunately, that was the LAST to go. Oddly, it showed up when I was teaching a lesson at Stanford. A new student showed up with THAT tuba. Wonderful instrument. Like all hand made instruments, it is a crap shoot if you get a good one, or a bowser; I was really lucky with that one. If I was starting out, instead of nearing retirement, I would definitely have one; a 157 F as well.

What would you consider to be "newer?" I have a 163 CC and 155 F from about 2000-2003. I'd be happy to share my thoughts. Feel free to send me an email as well.
