A visit to Lee Stofer

I know for some of you this will sound quite redundant.

Over the last couple of weeks, I had Lee Stofer give my two tubas (PT-6, PT-10) a cleaning. Just want to let everyone know that these tubas have never played better since the day I got them! Lee is one of the most thorough repairmen I've ever met. His attention to detail makes him a true artist in every sense of the word, and it seems to me he'd give the same amount of respect to an instrument regardless of student or professional model status.

On my way out the door, he refused to let me leave until he polished my Parke Ofenloch mouthpiece...and, if he had the right materials, would have tried to fix the busted zipper on my Reunion Blues bag. Lee just can't stand to see our tools of the trade looking shoddy. That's the kind of attitude, mixed with the aforementioned artistry, I want working on my instruments.

Next to Southern Belles, BBQ and sweet tea, Lee is one of the best things about the South! I look forward to working with him in the future.

I'm planning a visit to Lee later on this month for some much needed cleaning and some mods.
So far, I'm really digging the way this guy does business. He answers his email quickly and scheduled three days out his schedule for my stuff. No wait and no fuss! What a guy.
I'm going to take a little drive to Atlanta and see the sights while Lee is working on them.
I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Once again, kudos to Lee! And a comparison to Southern Belles, BBQ, and sweet tea. It doesn't get any better than this. That's some seriously "tall cotton."

Lee is the man. He put the 5th valve on my f tuba and it's great. He's right aftert the southern bells.

I work at a music store with a competent repairman who doesn't charge me,but i'm headed to atlanta next week, 'nuff said...

Yep... As an instrument repairman myself, I wish I had Lee's experience and knowledge.

Lee is one of the few repairmen in the country who I trust to work on my horns. He has both of my 4 valve sousaphones right now and I am looking forward to the results of his efforts.
