Ulster Orchestra Mahler 2/ Benjamin Zander
I saw a documentary about Benjamin Zander on TV a few days ago, and it closed with the last 5 minutes of a Performance of Mahler 2. The tuba player is playing a comp EEb. Absolutely gigantic sound. Just massive and gorgeous. Anyone know who this was? Just made me want a EEb even more than I already do.

After seeing you message. I drove the 3 1/2 hrs with my girlfriend to Akron. It was a SPECTACULAR performance. Ben Zander's energy and effervescence are infectious. It really translates in his performance. He is also one of the nicest most gracious men I have ever met. I had the privledge after the concert, he spent a good deal of time with everyone who waited to meet him. Thanks for the heads up!jacojdm wrote:Zander is in town to conduct the Akron Symphony on Mahler 2 this weekend. A show in Akron and one at Severance.
Linky.
P.S. That documentary was recorded in 1997 I believe. The tubist was Ewan Easton. What a fantastic tuba player.
