Can anyone tell me what the JE is in the MIraphone JE 186? Also, what is the general going price for a used one in good condition.
Thanks,

If this is the one up on eBay, that's definitely a "TE." Just some dirt/scratch/weird angle makes it look a little like a J.oltubarock wrote:Yeah, this actually has JE engraved into it on the bell. Its a little odd.

... and look at their logo (upper left corner), you'll see that the "T" in the logo is formed by a tuba! The engraved "T" on this instrument mimics the bell and bottom bow of the tuba in the logo.
This is not the only confusingly-fancy engraving to be found on tubas. Many of us remember (a few years back) a number of auctions of J.W. York and Sons tubas, where the sellers had mis-interpreted the ornate lettering in the York logo -- most of them were advertised as "Y.M. Dork and Sons" or something similar.
