Having just played this instrument at the Army tuba show, I have to say that IMO the pictures make the horn look much bigger than it really is. It is a nice, fun instrument to play for sure. However, If one is expecting a 6/4 Yorkaphone/Rudy/Holton earthmover type instrument, this may not be what you have in mind. It's got a little bit of a Thor flavor.
Also, has there been an example made with yellow brass???? Did Kansul corner the market on red brass stock in the past?

I believe they are experimenting with their own alloy mixtures.
It is listed as a 5/4 sized tuba that could be played and hold its own as a 6/4 without the extra bulk.

Whatever about size... How does it play/sound?

It plays wonderfully. Hard to tell about sound in the elephant room. The scale was very even, it centered well and the response was excellent. My only hang-up with the horn is the fifth valve ergonomics, and that might be fixed with some thumb-ring tweaking. I thought the low range was excellent, too.

That thumb ring is adjustable and removable. When you look at the back of the horn you will see a screwdriver slot on the ring nut that is threaded. Also a small Allen wrench can adjust height and angle of the ring. Once that York alloy reaches body temps, it really shows it's stuff -- ENJOY!
