I just ran across this site and liked it very much. Good tuba playing.

Actually I would imagine that these are Obstler-kegs, which means hitting the TubeNet jackpot at a much higher velocity.Chuck Jackson wrote:Holy Crap!!!! Great music WITH good looking women HOLDING BEER KEGS. QUICK, someone post some pictures of food!!!! We have hit the TubeNet JACKPOT!!!!
I find it interesting that among all the rotary baritones and trumpets, the tuba is (or at least looks like) a Besson E flat - which is certainly not typical for the area.

Well, certainly good playing, and singing, etc however how autentisch is it really? The tuba might be English, or at least traditional English brass band style, there is one perinet trumpet, not Deutsche style that is, and the posaunen, nicht Deustshe style either. Then don't the girls look a bit Asiatisch? Sorry, nicht jackpot me thinks...

I wonder if it could be in Switzerland, rather than Austria? The British style EEb is used more there. Or otherwise the tuba player plays in a traditional British brass band otherwise. Looks like a Yamaha YEB-632 to me.
For those of you which like that sort of music with pretty girls (don't we all?), I would recommend this DVD by Blaskapelle Gloria

I think that is an excellent description.finnbogi wrote:Actually I would imagine that these are Obstler-kegs, which means hitting the TubeNet jackpot at a much higher velocity.
When I went to Tirol a few years ago, there were two "schnapps girls" on each side of the stage. Some Austrian traditions need to find their way over here ASAP.
Regarding this video... very nice, although it's annoying to me when live videos are accompanied by studio recordings. I'd much rather hear the live sound as well.
Also, I'm not sure if it's more or less traditional to use slide trombones, but it seems like a lot of similar videos use 4v rotary trombones.

I kind of doubt that the Swiss would be playing/singing the national song of Tyrol (which is a province of Austria).

These bands never sync up their music videos correctly.

Exactly. If one is going to try to pull that off, one better make DAHM sure they are able to make it look right!bort wrote:It's a live video with a studio recording.Bob Kolada wrote:These bands never sync up their music videos correctly.

Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tuba
That's actually one of my pet peeves about a lot of TV and movies when one of the actors sings/plays an instrument. Even if the person is actually a musician, most of the time they will chop out the acting audio and insert studio audio of the music performance. You can *always* tell, and can *always* hear a difference (the studio sound is a LOT better than it would be on-set).
I mean I like good music an all, but it's so phoney. If they're going to do this for ease of filming on-set, could they at least fiddle with the studio recording to make it sound like it was done on-set?
I realize this is probably a lousy description of this... but the best I can describe it!

The official title for the young women is Marketender or Sutler which seems to roughly translate as "Band Beer Waitress" if Wiki and Google Translate can be trusted.finnbogi wrote:Actually I would imagine that these are Obstler-kegs, which means hitting the TubeNet jackpot at a much higher velocity.Chuck Jackson wrote:Holy Crap!!!! the term is still used for sutler women who accompany a marching brass band or musician and supply the beverages (mainly in southern Germany, Austria, Northern and South Tyrol)
