Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tuba
Actually I would imagine that these are Obstler-kegs, which means hitting the TubeNet jackpot at a much higher velocity. I find it interesting that among all the rotary baritones and trumpets, the tuba is (or at least looks like) a Besson E flat - which is certainly not typical for the area. Besson 981 Eb
Melton 195 BBb (Fafner) Conn 71H bass trombone
Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tuba
There was a band Boosey and Hawkes 967
Conn 20 J King 1240 Conn 110 H
Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tubaWell, certainly good playing, and singing, etc however how autentisch is it really? The tuba might be English, or at least traditional English brass band style, there is one perinet trumpet, not Deutsche style that is, and the posaunen, nicht Deustshe style either. Then don't the girls look a bit Asiatisch? Sorry, nicht jackpot me thinks...

Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tubaPiston tubas like that would certainly be the exception to the rule, however, even Ernst Mosch (now Ernst Hutter) and Sie Original Egerlaender Musikanten use a piston trumpet for the lead player.
If I went back to playing polka music, the American polka tradition is Conn 20J (and similar tubas). If I get specific to central and south Texas, bass guitar has been the trend for 40 years. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tubaI wonder if it could be in Switzerland, rather than Austria? The British style EEb is used more there. Or otherwise the tuba player plays in a traditional British brass band otherwise. Looks like a Yamaha YEB-632 to me.
For those of you which like that sort of music with pretty girls (don't we all?), I would recommend this DVD by Blaskapelle Gloria http://www.blaskapelle-gloria.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=86:admin&catid=41&Itemid=59
Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tuba
Good observation. Of course, I was pleased simply to have good music accompanying the beverages and the beautiful setting. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tuba
Not according to their webpage.... http://bsandra.webnode.com/kontakt/" target="_blank Oberhofen and Pfaffenhofen are near Innsbruck... Yamaha YEP-642s
Besson New Standard 3-valve compensator Boosey & Co. Solbron ca. 1921 Boosey & Hawkes 19" Bell Imperial EEb
Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tuba
I think that is an excellent description. When I went to Tirol a few years ago, there were two "schnapps girls" on each side of the stage. Some Austrian traditions need to find their way over here ASAP. Regarding this video... very nice, although it's annoying to me when live videos are accompanied by studio recordings. I'd much rather hear the live sound as well. Also, I'm not sure if it's more or less traditional to use slide trombones, but it seems like a lot of similar videos use 4v rotary trombones. Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tubaI kind of doubt that the Swiss would be playing/singing the national song of Tyrol (which is a province of Austria).

Re: AlpenBrass-Tirol, nice tubaEither way, I like it!
