Hi,
Someone sent me pictures of a Toneking sousaphone. It's supposed to be a Bbb instrument. I'm inclined to think it's a Czech instrument made shortly after WWII (when Amati used the Toneking brand).
What puzzles me is the unusual wrap. Anyone seen something like this before?

You sure could be right - I thought Toneking was a Keilwerth brand, but in any case Czechoslovakia is always a good bet. Anyway, you might find this old thread interesting, wherein a similar sousaphone turned out to be apparently an English make: Need Sousaphone ID - Stump The Experts! -ADDENDUM

I like the knob that's been added for mysterious reasons to the outside of the body. For stand fixture?

Toneking was indeed a Keilwerth brand (but Keilwerth didn't make sousaphones). After WWII Amati used the Toneking brand until they were forced by Keilwerth to stop doing this in 1955...Donn wrote: I thought Toneking was a Keilwerth brand
