One thing he noticed about my tuba is that the leadpipe does not actually have a receiver -- the "receiver" is actually just a sleeve over the leadpipe itself, and the mouthpiece goes straight into the leadpipe.
I've heard about this before, but have to admit that I don't know much about it. Why are some tubas manufactured like this? Is there a reason for it? Pros/cons about this kind of setup? Thanks!
