French C tuba Recordings

Anyone know of some recordings? Doing some research and wanting to hear this instrument.

Any proof that someone actually knows how to play one of these monsters properly?

I have owned one for a few decades - still have no clue why it was ever made nor what the reason for the fingering variations from "normal" was. I think the ophicleide is actually a bit more rational. (Not that I am a good ophicleide player either. ;-))

Eugene Dowlings cd the ENGLISH TUBA has him playing a coutois French[tenor] C tuba on Vaughn Williams Six Studies in English Folk Song and Elgars Romance,Op 82.Hope this helps

There is a DVD of Pictures, with French conductor (Cluytens?), which uses only the French tuba on pictures.

Thanks for that link! The tubas are overblown by the horns and trombones, but still a great version of the one musical composition that ever gave me nightmares (after watching Fantasia when I was about 6.)
