The leadpipe on a large detachable bell Reynolds has the smallest starting OD known to man at .50" right out of the receiver. Anybody ever tried a different leadpipe/receiver on one, of a normal .56-.58" starting OD range? Hopefully it would raise the threshold for "ratting" at FF while maintaining otherwise good playing characteristics.
There are lots of tubas with a .68x" bore and about 12" leadpipe that could be rebent, like King or any Eb bass, or is the "stock" U-bend-it leadpipe of the right profile for 12"+ length from valve to receiver?

Kanstul sent a .656 leadpipe instead of the .687 we had asked for. We already had it bent before we discovered the error.
So we expanded the big end to fit the cluster, and tried it. The Reynolds plays better this way than with the original pipe. Go figure.

Cool! do you think there's anything special in your .656
.687 expansion or would a straight .687 be better? What receiver did you use?

The pipe and the receiver were from Kanstul.
