Klaus is gone.

Postby Schlepporello » Fri Jun 29, 2018 6:41 pm

I just found out that Klaus has passed away. He will be missed by many on this board. The following was posted on his Facebook page by one of his daughters.
Rest in peace, Klaus.

Hanne Morgen Leismann is feeling heartbroken.

A person who has meant a lot to me has unfortunately passed away this weekend. He was my teacher in elementary school, but he has also meant a lot to me in my adult life when we were both musicians and had a lot of correspondence around classical music and 'world situation' not least. Furthermore, he was a good support when I lost my parents at a short time. Many words of comfort came from him, which I was and am very grateful to.
Rest in peace Klaus Smedegaard Bjerre, I'm going to miss our conversations and your glorious harsh humor ❤️

May you rest in peace, Klaus. Your interesting contributions to this forum over the years were most informative. Lux aeterna.

The man knew something about everything, and seemed to know everything about brass stuff in Europe in the 20th century. Not to mention the huge photo collection.

RIP, Klaus. There are far too many other Tubenet alums waiting for you on the other side.

I sympathize with his daughters who now have to liquidate all the horns he has collected over the years.

I was always amazed at his ability to add to the discussion (especially ones that seemed to have come up with no answers and were in effect stumped) with his amazing knowledge of long ago obscure players, groups, horns, recordings, makers, manufacturing historical info and last but not least music. He was a straight forward guy who spoke/wrote what he thought and you had to admire & appreciate that even if you didn't always agree with him. He was a real resource. I loved his passion and I've missed his posting on here for some time now. Sad news indeed.

This is so sad. I always enjoyed his input. He reached out to me a couple of months ago to privately discuss a topic on this board. My first personal interaction with him but thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. Rest in peace.

With so-called "experts" abounding in every walk of life, it was wonderful having our own real "'expert" in house. He maintained a great civility to go along with his vast experience. Truly, a man to be missed. RIP, Klaus.

He left a lot of good behind, in his path through life. He clearly could see it coming, as he set a couple of us up with administrative access to his yorkmasterbbb site a little over a month ago, so that vast array of photos etc. will live on. He had some long running health issues that I think would have incapacitated a lesser man, but kept coming back and was always a model for anyone, unfailingly polite and thoughtful.

This is good. I was wondering about the future of his archives. He sure had a lot of stuff!
