Klaus is gone.I just found out that Klaus has passed away. He will be missed by many on this board. The following was posted on his Facebook page by one of his daughters.
Rest in peace, Klaus. Hanne Morgen Leismann is feeling heartbroken. June 19 at 2:54 PM · A person who has meant a lot to me has unfortunately passed away this weekend. He was my teacher in elementary school, but he has also meant a lot to me in my adult life when we were both musicians and had a lot of correspondence around classical music and 'world situation' not least. Furthermore, he was a good support when I lost my parents at a short time. Many words of comfort came from him, which I was and am very grateful to. Rest in peace Klaus Smedegaard Bjerre, I'm going to miss our conversations and your glorious harsh humor ❤️ I'm just crazy about dementia.

Re: Klaus is gone.May you rest in peace, Klaus. Your interesting contributions to this forum over the years were most informative. Lux aeterna.

Re: Klaus is gone.Sad news, indeed.
I always enjoyed your contributions to the board, and your humor. Be at peace, Klaus. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Soft soldering outdoors in a heavy wind sucks. There. I said it.
Re: Klaus is gone. The man knew something about everything, and seemed to know everything about brass stuff in Europe in the 20th century. Not to mention the huge photo collection.
RIP, Klaus. There are far too many other Tubenet alums waiting for you on the other side. ![]() B&S GR-41

Re: Klaus is gone.I sympathize with his daughters who now have to liquidate all the horns he has collected over the years.

Re: Klaus is gone.I was always amazed at his ability to add to the discussion (especially ones that seemed to have come up with no answers and were in effect stumped) with his amazing knowledge of long ago obscure players, groups, horns, recordings, makers, manufacturing historical info and last but not least music. He was a straight forward guy who spoke/wrote what he thought and you had to admire & appreciate that even if you didn't always agree with him. He was a real resource. I loved his passion and I've missed his posting on here for some time now. Sad news indeed.

Re: Klaus is gone. This is so sad. I always enjoyed his input. He reached out to me a couple of months ago to privately discuss a topic on this board. My first personal interaction with him but thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. Rest in peace.

Re: Klaus is gone. With so-called "experts" abounding in every walk of life, it was wonderful having our own real "'expert" in house. He maintained a great civility to go along with his vast experience. Truly, a man to be missed. RIP, Klaus.
Bearin' up!
Re: Klaus is gone.He left a lot of good behind, in his path through life. He clearly could see it coming, as he set a couple of us up with administrative access to his yorkmasterbbb site a little over a month ago, so that vast array of photos etc. will live on. He had some long running health issues that I think would have incapacitated a lesser man, but kept coming back and was always a model for anyone, unfailingly polite and thoughtful.
Re: Klaus is gone.Goodbye and Godspeed, Klaus! Your family and your musical family will miss you greatly...
Re: Klaus is gone.
This is good. I was wondering about the future of his archives. He sure had a lot of stuff!
