1st movement, John Mackey's "Kingfishers Catch Fire," just gorgeous. 2nd movement, epic, powerful, moving, and probably the most incredible piece of music I've ever played. Watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZz92Xho-fk" target="_blank for the one I'm in, or apparently (this is new) Texas All-State has a video of it now on youtube as well. Regardless, it's magical.

Whitacre's "Lux Auruque" is my favorite of his, personally.

Maurice Durufle's Ubi Caritas et Amor belongs on the pretty piece list

If you have never listened to Linda Eder
http://t-recs.net/mpegs/misc/look_your_eyes.wma

She takes a worn out tune and shines it up.

It doesn't fit the category, but I like it

"Over the Rainbow" by Iz...amazing, it's on YouTube, too lazy to look for it.

Almost anything by Eva Cassidy, but Over the Rainbow is also a great one from her.

Two young talents who didn't last nearly long enough.

I'll add a couple more for the heck of it.

Windows of the Past, from John Williams score to Harry Potter and the Prisioner of Azkaban (nerdy, I know).

Loss, by Don Ellis, as performed by the musical Blast.

Vocalise, by Rachmaninov, any arrangement, including Perantoni's on Daniel and the Lions Den.

That enough to keep this thread going, I really like it.
