I received word that my "new" tuba is sitting in the bus depot waiting for me to pick it up tonight!

I snatched up that Bach Mercedes that went up for sale a couple weeks ago. With moving into our new house, we needed some extra cash, so I sold the King 1240 I had and bought this one and made a little money on the deal. Now I've got another project horn! Plus I was wanting something smaller and lighter to take to work and play along with the kids.

At some point it will need a new bell, I'm going to practice more with my dent balls/magnets, and someday I might put a 4 valve cluster on it and cut it to CC and have a nice quintet horn (I think bloke suggested something along those lines a while back using the bugle from this line of horns. i.e. Olds 99, Bach, Conn 2J bugles). That would be a ways down the road.

Another thing you can do is run a couple of cups of clear vinegar through an empty cycle. Most machines drain as soon as they are started. To keep the dumb thing from draining out the vinegar.... put a couple cups in a small pan and put it open side up on one of the racks. The vinegar will remove the calcium/lime deposits from anything inside the dishwasher.

Can't top the pork or the headlines. BUT: it seems my quadra wisdom tooth extraction went well, no complications (so far) and about a week to 10 days before playing again. And that, after all, is a real update! More or less...

I'm in Atlanta for work this week... well, not really *in* Atlanta, as much as I am in some suburb about 15 miles from downtown. Don't get me wrong, I like Atlanta! I'm just a little less than excited to be at a conference hotel with no car and nothing worth doing within walking distance.

I think it qualifies. Thank God. Here we were, closing in on 500 pages, and I despaired of ever getting an *actual* update! ;>)

I don't think there are any conference hotels in Rockmart and it's more than 15 miles from Atlanta anyway, but yes, there is not much else there either. Not even me or my son. And I don't know that he has played anything since aging out of Spirit. Can't even get him to go to TubaChristmas. I need to start practicing, it's almost Halloween. Oh, but there is a Wal-mart now.
