Because this is how I looked before and after hitting the turn 1 wall of Pocono Raceway (at least that's what they told me after I woke up from my month-long coma)

Why else would I have so much time to hang out here?

Frequently, about the time grades come out, most Tech students sing (instead) "what the hell am I doing here?"

I chose my name because I thought it was humorous, memorable, relatively anonymous, and said everything it needed to say.

tubatooter1940 describes my primary instrument these days and what I do with it. 1940 is the year my bell-front King Eb was built.
My tuba is one year older than I am.
Don't know how much longer I can stay at this. Like my friend, Klaus, I will have to pack it in eventually. I am so lucky to play with friends and polished musicians half my age.

I had no idea Rick Denney was a pseudonym, seriously. Resident Genius or Evil Genius? I guess it's generic enough that it fooled me - then again, I'm pretty gullible.

Sound Ministries is a small sound company that I own and run providing PA equipment and training to churches and such. Like most, I use it on almost every forum so that I don't have to remember anything else

DaTubaKid was originally what my aim screen name was when I decided I needed a "big kids" screen name. Actually, I forgot the password to my original ones...so I had to think of something new. At that point I was playing tuba a lot (in high school). So I went something along those lines. I believe at that point I was starting to do well at regionals and state on tuba, and I wanted to make a point to my friends that as "good" as I was, I was still a kid in the tuba world.

Coincidentally, if you rearrange the capitalization, you can get "DatUbaKid", which is slang for "That Uber Kid." No relation of course.

My parents gave my sister, my brother, and me names beginning with B and middle names beginning with J. I have the same first name as my dad and our middle names were different, even though they also began with J. Some government agencies refuse to write out middle names. When I registered to vote, living with my parents, it caused all kinds of problems. My dad always voted absentee and I voted at the polls. I would sometimes arrive at the polling place and, more than once, I was accused of voting twice. I wrote to the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters and they were dumbfounded. They told me the only way we could be differentiated would be for me to have either Jr. or II (the second) tacked at the end of my name. I told them, "No, I am not a Junior or a 'number two;' I have a different name than my father and it's up to you to fix this!" It took about six months but they relented.

My preference now is not to try to be cute with names like that. Actually, I hated it when I was growing up, too.

If you know the blues, you know that mojo means libido. 'Mojo Workin' is a blues standard. By who I'm not sure, but Crack the Sky here in B'more covered the tune. I'm guessing that I'm one of the few tubenetters that is a big a fan of the blues.
