I'm not much of a TV watcher, but I like to watch movies now and again. I was wondering what movies you watch that are good, but not real popular. Here are three that I have seen recently that are really good:

1. The Inlaws- the original with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. Worth the money just for the scene of the chinese flight attendant doing the pre-flight safety briefing in Mandarin on a private jet.

2. The Long Good Friday- Bob Hoskins is terrifying in this one.

3. The Party- Peter Sellers is drop dead hilarious as an Indian movie star wrongly invited to a swank Hollywood shin-dig.

I've seen most of those, and would add a number to my list. FWIW I like the remake of "Eat Drink Man Woman," which is "Tortilla Soup" better than the original. For me the food scenes are just more appetizing in the later.

"Brassed Off" and "The Red Violin" are also on my list. I would add:

Chocolat
Little Shop of Horrors (the Rick Moranis version, although the earlier one is a hoot with a very young Jack Nicholson)

...

I forgot to add "The Sweetest Thing," which is a really bad movie, but which has a couple of very funny musical numbers in it that are worth fast forwarding through the rest of it for (the best one is only in the 'unrated' version though).

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is one of my favorites, too. When the movie first appeared, many people thought that the on location scenes were done in San Diego. None were. They were in Long Beach, Chino, on the Pines-to-Palms Highway (there is even a very prominent Highway 74 sign when the race for the money begins), Santa Monica, and Malibu, among other places. I like to watch the movie to see if I can guess where everything is.

Schlep! It's good to see another UHF fan out there. We are small in numbers but big in heart and loyalty.

1. Four Rooms-Imagine Jerry Lewis' "The Bellboy" on acid. I'm a big Tim Roth fan and he is brilliant in this one.

2. The Legend of 1900-Another Tim Roth picture. He plays a freaky good cruise ship piano player who was born on the ship and has never set foot on dry land. It includes a fictional piano duel with Jelly Roll Morton.
Priceless!

3. Operation Petticoat- Cary Grant & Tony Curtis-Some of the fastest and wittiest dialogue on film. Some Like It Hot has the same great dialogue plus Marilyn Monroe. Hubba-Hubba!

4 Laugh Clown, Laugh; 1928- This is a silent classic in which Lon Chaney plays a tragic Pagliacci-esque clown in a travelling troupe of performers.

Hedd Wyn - an Oscar nominated film based on the life and death of a young Welsh Speaking Ellis Evans who wrote under the name of Hedd Wyn he was a poet and a native of Blaeanau Ffestiniog, he was sent to France during world war one and was killed in action , his poems were entered at the 1917 National Eisteddfod in Birkinhead and he won the main prize at the Eisteddfod ,which was awarded after his death the film deals with issues of how Welsh / Irish / Scottish soldiers were treated during the great war.very interesting film and an evocotive film score.

Chocolat I am not a JD fan but this movie is an absoulte gem
Casino An incredible work of art, twice the cinematic experience of Goodfellas but never got the respect
Crime Story The two hour pilot was actually released in many movie theaters. Each season of this Michael Mann 86-88 TV series was like an extended movie.

Off the beaten path. Well then one of my fav's. This is Danny Elfman's FIRST soundtrack, for a movie written and directed by his brother Richard (Jenna's Father-in-law)

The Forbidden Zone.

This would be in the cult classic category. Black and White, REALLY cheap sets, a topless princess and some very fine acting.

The soundtrack is fantastic!

By far my favorite movie that most people have not seen is "Dingo", starring Miles Davis. It is a little Australian feature about a trumpet player realizing his dream. If anyone can find it on DVD, I highly recommend it. It still makes me tear up every time I view it.
