Paul Rucker?
Paul Rucker had one for sale in Seattle. You may be able to get his number through Music Works Northwest (ask for Matt or Scott): 425.644.0988.

I would contact "greene" who joined this forum a few days ago to inquire about some tubas he has. I know from a different(double-bass) forum that he's cleaning out his late father's music store, and is giving some GREAT deals on some GREAT double basses.
What kind of double bass are you looking for?

Hey Man,
I play bass for a living and shipping one can be a huge problem (tuba's are easily shipped in comparison). You can really get a bad deal because brand names can be meaningless in the lower priced string bass world, damage can be unseen on the inside of the instrument, and repairs to a "bargain" insrtument can quickly exceed the instruments worth. Therefore, I would recomend going onto a website like http://www.talkbass.com go to the double bass forums and ask about luthiers and basses for sale near you. I live in New York City and can think of 5 great shops here, it may not be the same where you live, but consider how many string basses in an orchestra compared to tubas, then compare them in jazz, country music, bluegrass, etc. There are lot's of great instruments out there, some at good prices. Goood Luck. Peace. ASG

I sure agree, this guy is revered on the web for his honesty and buisness methods. I would reconsider my last post and I would probably let Bob ship me a bass if I didn't own 2 incredible instruments(one of them has a bag, pick up, and preamp from Bob). I have had 3 dealings with him and all have been superb. Great prices, incredible service. His commercial site is http://www.urbbob.com

All Hail
I can highly recommend both TalkBass.com Forum and "all hail" Bob Gollihur's pages as places to check out just about anything you could hope to learn or find in the double bass world. I have an Eminence hybrid electric double bass from Bob and he is a great gentleman for any bass player to know, also offering some really quite high quality products for very reasonable prices too.
