Hey, Joe! With over 6,000 posts, when do you find the time to be a master-craftsman?

Yeah... wish I could stay out of there! Unfortunately (depending of how you look at it) this is a one-man shop and I HAVE to ... or it won't git done! I suppose it's a small price to pay for not having to put up with whimpering employees!

The obvious solution to the buffing room is to have some big-name player start a fad for painted (not lacquered) horns...

Did someone ask for 'painted (not lacquered) horns'?

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Back to the subject of trombones...

When I my household goods arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1995, I had my contrabass trombone sent with them. In all their infinite wisdom and knowledge, the packers placed it precariously loose in the top part of the shipping crate.

When the crate arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Cengkareng, the nice people from Garuda Indonesian Airways started dropping things out of the crate and into a moving van. The trombone was thrown down onto the tarmac. The bell was flat as a pancake.

I took the horn to a music store in Jakarta. (It should be noted that musical instrument stores in Indonesia also sell sporting equipment.) It was fixed in a matter of days. While it wasn't as pretty as it was before, it played just as well, although it had a terribly bumpy bell.

I still have that bone.
