I'm playing with a scratch orchestra soon and we're doing Verdi's "Four Sacred Pieces" and Wagner's "Mastersingers" - Overture, Chorale, Prize Song and Finale Scene.
Forgive my ignorance, but are the Mastersingers Chorale, P Song and Finale the excerpts in the Torchinsky books after the Overture!?
If so, great. If not is there much in the Tuba part and does anyone have a copy the would scan for me??
Same sort of thing re: Verdi Four Sacred Pieces... Much in it? Anyone have a copy...?
Thanks!

Meistersinger/quattro pezzi
Hello there in the UK. I had a quick look in my Meistersinger score (thank you Dover for making these things available) and:
The chorale and prize song have some chords. The finale of Meistersinger has a lot of material similar to the overture, but you can't play very much because of the chorus and soloists. Only two of the Verdi pieces are for full orchestra if I recall correctly. Though a (contra) bass trombone would be more in place than the tuba, these parts are easy enough to play. There is a fast scale in one of them. Good luck, John
