Those aren't too far gone. I think that bloke could still patch them up, convert them to the key of CC, add two more valves, make them play perfectly in tune, and add a nice silver and gold-plated finish, all while composing 1,000 more TubeNet posts, and over one weekend.
He might have a slightly more difficult time with this one, though.

I'm not so sure that's a good idea. I've been told that tubas of that sort tend to be really flat.

No, it just means that they're all in the same key; B flat (groan!)

It seems as though our jokes might have fallen a little flat as well.
