Ibanda = the man.

I've had the good fortune to hear this young cat play on a couple of occasions, and I must say that he is a great young tubist as well as a fabulous kid. He came up and played for my roomate and I, plus his teacher Heather Richter a week or so ago, and I was amazed at how quickly he absorbed comments and put them to positive use in his playing. BTW, he's got two years of high school left, if memory serves correctly. Congrats, Ibanda!!!!

Music Teachers National Association--They're mostly private piano teachers.

Can anyone tell me who won the Collegiate Chamber Competition at MTNA this year? My brass quintet competed in it only to be beaten out by a sax quartet from The Julliard School and a brass quintet coached by Velvet Brown. Tubas everywhere in MTNA!

That makes two in a row at MTNA for the studio of Velvet Brown. In case some you forgot, it was just a year and a half ago when Lee asked for advice on how to persuade his parents to co-sign for a student loan to buy an F tuba.

Convincing my family I need F tuba

Sounds like he just demonstrated the value of his owning an F tuba.
