Time travel....haven't done it for over 30 years

Post by Naptown Tuba »

I know you're all saying, "Yeah, that whole 'spring forward, fall back thing....so what.....no big deal!" But here in "Hoosier Land", it has constantly been in the papers and on newscasts for days and weeks, like we're all going to forget. For the last year or so, instead of the "war between the North and South", its been the "war between the East and West; Chicago or New York....Chicago or New York......on and on. The only people happy about tonight are the bar owners and patrons,(especially with all the Final Four stuff going on) as Gov. Mitch is giving them special permission to stay open an hour later.)
As for me, I think tonight I'll just keep winding those clock hands round and round; and when I get up tomorrow morning....it'll be Easter!! :) (I'm in the mood for some green eggs and ham, I yam, I yam!!)

Boy, forty years later, you downstate folks still don't get it! Back in the 60's you guys legislated one time zone, so public places like schools, banks and government offices up in northwest Indiana had to put signs below the clocks saying that the REAL time was one hour later than displayed. We're a suburb of Chicago, not Indianapolis.

Sheesh :x

I know and I agree. There are still counties in the NW and SW that are continuing with Chicago. We just can't seem to find where that imaginary line ought to go. For years to come, people will still be asking; "Now....what time is it in Indiana???"

Well, I giving away my advanced years, but we thought it was cool when they used to, and then didn't for a year, because all the cool shows came on an hour earlier before we had to go to bed!
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

My birth certificate indicates that I was born in "East Chicago, Indiana", not northwest Indianapolis. :D

I guess I am looking forward to seeing my bobber on the water a little later than normal! :)

Needles, California, used to be a major railroad center... back in the days of steam trains...

Today, Needles is a tourist spot. It is on the edge of the Mojave Desert, on the Arizona border. Its location is interesting. It gets television from Phoenix, even though Las Vegas is closer (Needles High School plays sports as a Nevada school!) It is part of a chain of cities in which it is the only city in California and the Pacific Time Zone. Consequently, the people who live in Needles learn to live in two time zones at once (although some people just live on Mountain Standard Time all year and say, "Forget it!")

Arizona, except for the Navajo Indian Reservation, does not change its clocks to go on Daylight Saving Time. So, for over half the year, there really isn't the problem of being in two time zones.

No, I take it back... Laughlin is one of the cities... But people only go there to gamble. (Laughlin is in Nevada and the Pacific Time Zone.)

By the way, Tuba City is on the Navajo Reservation, so they change their clocks there.

I noticed on this site, you have to manually change for Daylight Saving Time. When you do that, all the other times are an hour later!

This is the first year I didn't have to change any clocks. The clocks in my place all run on signals from radio station WWV. I had to change the clock in my car and my watch. That's it.
