Ok, i've got a chance to upgrade my mid-size tuba to a new conn 52j.so, i need to sell my 2j 4valve CC. this is a special horn and i think probably the best looking(can't really judge other things without trying them) 2j to come up for sale in years.it was made in 1959 and I think it must have spent 45 of those years in storage. The (gold tinted)lacquer scores 85-95%,it was damaged a little where the bell meets the bottom bow where Lee Stofer took a significant dent out of the bottom bow.it is now dent free. There was a small wrinkle around the rim of the bell at some point in the past(before i got it).the valves look brand new-virtually no wear.the 1st and 3rd slides are top facing and those valves have been vented. The small finger buttons have been replaced by oversized Kanstul buttons. The guides have been changed to nylon guides.Lee Stofer has done all the work on it including a chem clean last fall.It has a 16" bell and a pretty small bore. It also has an alternate, longer 4th valve slide, presumably to play a low DDb,if you need to(i haven't used it).It has an interesting, resonant sound. I've used it in quintet and in the pit for Nutcracker.Horn is light and easy to hold.Great for doublers, first time CC players, and anyone who needs a lightweight, high quality horn on a budget.
Original, very sturdy hardcase included.$2100 +80 or so for Greyhound shipping. This horn also works very well as a solo horn. Pics to follow...

ok, i want to dial down my exuberence about the cosmetics of my conn.I took a very critical look as I was taking these pics.It does have a few very small dents, some evidence of past crease smoothing, and a few small acid bleeds in the lac.i'd score the lac at 75-80%. i'd rather lower the expectations and have the buyer pleasantly suprised than the other way around. However, i'd like to dial UP the playing characteristics of the horn. I just spent an hour playing some Bach Cello Suites,Gregson, and a few other things. The horn plays and sounds great.Great solo CC.The horn does look good, but plays great....
