That IS a good deal.
When I read the topic, I first thought of the Mythbusters show where they put a dead pig in a Corvette for a month just to see if they could clean out the stench later.
It didn't work -- there's some highly toxic stuff inside a pig (or any animal, for that matter). They cleaned it the best they could, put an ad in the paper, and somebody bought it for parts (the 'vette, that is).

Well, actually, of the several that came to take a look, the buyer was the only one who would tolerate the remaining stench (which was still pretty strong), and he did have plans for the engine and other stuff. They explained what they had done, and he was still interested.

Well, I don't know if it's a good deal if what you're after is the gourmet beef.
You get
10 oz. of Filet Mignon
20 oz. of Sirloin
16 oz. of Pork Chops
16 oz. of Chicken
9 oz. of Seafood
24 oz. of hotdogs
16 oz. of hamburger
? frozen potatoes au grautin

111 oz. (about 7 lbs) of dead animals of some kind
at $35+14 S/H = $49
So your dead animals cost you $7/lb. But that's with a sizeable amount frozen fish, pork, chicken, hotdogs and hamburger tossed in. If you're buying it for the filets and sirloin (30 oz.), you're paying about $26/lb. for those.
Me, I'd rather go down to Long's meat market and buy some locally-raised fresh (not frozen) choice porterhouse for about $6/lb (and tell them how to cut it)., run it home and pop it on the grill.

Some of us don't have such access, nor a reasonable substitute.
I've looked. There is one pseudo-shop nearby. Ocassionaly a good ribeye or T-bone. But never a god choice on other cuts. I'd love a source for aged beef tenderloin, ribeye, or T-bone. Or how about a nice leg of lamb? Just not going to find it around here. At least mail order give a source for good meat at a reaonable price.

Agreed about the wrapping part; if you want to add more 'moisture/fat" to a lean cut, you lace it or inject it with fat (and seasonings if you want). Turkey injected with butter, for example, comes out very moist. Wrapping just doesn't get into the meat.
