i heard it recently here at ithaca college...one of gordon stout's masters students performed it with the orchestra. i don't remember much except that it gets rather intense...tuba-wise there were one or two licks that seemed somewhat involved but otherwise there was nothing that jumped out at me.
enjoyable piece in my opinion - and the soloist played the hell out of it. have fun.

The UGA Symphony performed the work last year - similiar situation, we got the parts the week of the concert. Its is a great piece, nothing in the tuba part was scary or exposed, be ready to count and watch. I remember that it was the most successful work on the concert - so it couldn't have been that hard of an orchestra part.
