Don't you have some kind of plain text program on your computer for that kind of thing?

The older Macintosh computers had a program called SimpleText which was fine, unless what you wanted to keep was too big. Mac OS X has TextEdit which is great for saving homework.

You can also use a word processing program, such as Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, OpenOffice (which is free), or AppleWorks (ex-ClarisWorks).

It could be that the teletype he's using won't even accept fixed disks... :P
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Macintosh computers made in the last six years don't have floppy drives. A blank CD-ROM or DVD-ROM works fine.

:D

USB floppy drives are cheap and every modern Mac or PC that I've ever seen has at least one USB socket on it. For that matter, there are always flash drives--I've got a couple of little(!) 128MB ones that were sent to me free gratis as promotional items.
