Quintet with Orchestra

Post by Scott Sutherland »

My quintet has been asked to be featured on a couple of orchestra concerts. I've looked around and haven't been able to find much of anything as far as pieces/arrangements. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Canadian Brass have done a fair number of arrangements with orchestra. I couldn't find any of them on their on-line store, but you could try sending them an email or giving them a call.

Jan Koestsier wrote a BQ concerto w/orchestra. Maybe a movement from that would work. There is at least one recording of Das Rhenquintett playing it.

Hello,
The Canadian composer Malcolm Forsyth, wrote "Sagittarius",
a three mvt. work for the Canadian Brass
(lst mvt. to be heard on C.B.C. Records PSCD 2016).
Mr. Forsyth is a highly respected composer and the former Principal Trombone of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
Refer to the Canadian Music Centre web site for this work, or prehaps Dr. Forsyth has a web site.
