No argument about the LSO recording and Fletch... but the Reiner-CSO recording is my favorite.

When Jake enters the "Battle on Ice" it's one of the finest moments in tuba performance for me. Those triplet 8th notes are clear as any trumpet could play them. His staccato downbeats punctuate the music and cut through the orchestration with color, not volume. Classic Jacobs performance. And it was recorded in crummy old Medina Temple!

Fletcher was playing a Holton on this recording, if I'm not mistaken.
