Buying/Selling Horns @ ITEC

Post by Stefan Kac »

I'm curious to know who might be bringing what. With so many of us in the same place, it would seem like a great opportunity to peddle (pedal?) a horn that you've been trying to sell. Perhaps we can use this thread to make a list?

Also, I'd be interested to hear from more experienced people about the dealers and what kind of horns they will be bringing. Is it realistic to purchase a horn from an exhibitor at the conference, or are these "show horns" that have been had the hands (and mouths) of who knows what all over them and are better used just to get an idea of what might work for you?

You wouldn't be able to purchase a horn directly from DEG (Willson), or Meinl Weston, but if there was a horn that one of the manufacturers had that you wanted that exact one, they could work out a deal with the dealers there. As far as I know, you can walk away from a conference with a horn in hand from a dealer, as long as you pay for it. By dealers I mean, Custom, Dillon, WWBW, and Baltimore Brass to name the big ones.

the list is here:

http://www.denverbrass.org/itec/exhibitors.htm

but I guess one would have to contact the exhibitors directly to get the
lists of projected inventory to have on hand.

...so am I to assume from the lack of response to question #1 that no one who's trying to sell a horn here is going to ITEC?

I'll be there with my Kalison DS. Anybody interested in a great 4/4 CC should drop me a line at "dan_c4 (AT) yahoo.com"

I also have an ad up at www.bassclefbrass.com

Best,
Dan C.

ps. If anybody out there is selling a 5/4 tuba with the intent to downsize, I'll consider a trade.

Horns f/s at ITEC

Post by mbeastep »

Depending on what I find at ITEC, I could be selling a silver PT-10 F tuba in quite good condition. I haven't decided yet whether to bring it down, but I will be there.

Mirafone 188 and 1292 CC

Post by Gravid »

I'm selling 2 Mirafones, a 188 CC and a 1292 (New Yorker) CC. Both have a clear lacquer finish, and both will be at the ITEC.

The 188 is abt 4 yrs old, has the long whole step 5th v, and a factory kicker on the 1st v slide. Lacquer is 100%, and there is one dent on the 1st branch. Aside from a few tiny bell dings, that's it. Valves are fast/quiet, and horn is very clean. Plays in tune w/out a lot of effort. Selling because I bought this to use while I was having a bunch of work done to my big horn, and I no longer can afford to just have it sitting around. Incl a new Altieri gig bag, $5,500.

The 1292 is only 5 months old but has mostly been in the case and is still in new condition. Very even response, good intonation, and huge low register which slots more easily than on the 1291 CC. An extremely versatile 4/4-5/4 CC. Selling because I have finally converted back to BBb-icism, and I can't afford to keep both. Incl a gig bag, $7,000.

Again, both horns will be at ITEC. Call (254) 644-3788 if interested in play-testing while at the conference.

The 188 has been sold, and the 1292 is no longer available.

Sale fell through, so the 1292 is again for sale and will be at ITEC. The 188 is still for sale but will not be at ITEC.
