Does anyone find it strange that ISP's with strong filters for spam on incoming email don't use the same filters for their own outgoing email?
I had some email bounced by an ISP because my ISP appeared on one of the spam block lists (SBLs). The crazy thing is that my own ISP classified the bounce as spam because the bouncing ISP appeared on the very same SBL!
I don't get any google ads either, and I'm using IE. I also use a good firewall with pop-up / banner blocker. ZAP (ZoneAlarm Pro).

Is that a new plugin? I'm running Firefox and still get the Google ads.
I'm using the Firefox Adblock feature and googlesyndication is one of the blocked sites. It also lets me use Google and Gmail without ads.
The Flashblock plugin is also pretty useful to eliminate those stupid Flash screens (if you realy want to see the Flash display, all you do is click on it).

I got hotmail way back before I had home internet email service, and I've jsut stayed with it. I never use the earthlink email at all; I don't want people to get used to finding me there and then lose me if I change ISPs. I don't really care about the junk mail I get through hotmail. I visit the spam folder every other day or so and just delete everything. Once in a while a "real" email gets into spam, and I just tell them to put it on my safe list.
Fortunately I had heard enough about AOHell to never subscribe to it; my bank told me that people had actually had to cancel their credit cards to get AOHell to quit charging them for service they cancelled months ago. Hotmail has, so far, been both $$ free and hassle free.

You mean there was something our 'resident genius' didn't already know!? Maybe today (06-06-06) really is the end of the world!!!
Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm always amazed at all the stuff I learn from you - really.

I appreciate the compliment, but allow me to clue you in: For everything I know, Chuck knows that and a few things besides. He's the real resident genius.
Of course, he is older.

My main e-mail address is Russian: http://www.pochta.ru/. You can run it through any e-mail program you want (such as Apple Mail) and it has 20 MB of free web space (until earlier this year that was 50 MB!) If you click on my link you can get all the instructions in English. Certain settings are done in Russian--I remember enough to get me through that. You will get only the spam you want. Pochta.ru will not send you anything. It's a good deal. And all the ads are in Russian--so they won't annoy you to buy anything, if you don't understand it!

...and do you use The Bat as your email client? Seems a lot of Russian friends do:
