Lately I have been reading that pushing in all your slides when you place your instrument in your case is necessary to avoid dust and wiped off slide grease...........should this actually be done?
yes i know they dont say it for no reason but it seems like 1 more pain in the ***.

I think the word "ALL" in the survey is problematic. For example, if you use your 1st slide regularly, then maybe it is a good idea to push in. Your 2nd slide is always out 1/8"? Maybe your 3rd or 5th slide is always out 3/4"? If they never move, why push them all the way in only to have to reset them next time.
...I don't really have to worry about the question with my current tubas: With 6 valves I never pull slides on my F. My CC has 2 triggers, one each on the 1st and 2nd slides, so they always return to (almost) all the way in.
