Our brethren in the horn section...

Post by poomshanka »

Just got a copy of Take 9, featuring the American Horn Quartet and the horn section from the NYPO.

Wow. Can't say enough nice things about this CD. The playing, writing and recording are all absolutely top-notch. The Overture to Candide (arranged by none other than Warren Deck) has to be heard to be believed... and even then you still might not believe it.

If all y'all are looking to expand your brass recording horizons a bit, this might be a fine place to start.

"Kudzu Horn Quartet" ?

If the sound bite is any indication, this is one tight and honkin' ensemble!
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
