New Zealand tuba star to premier new tuba piece later this year

Tuba artist, Ryan J Peni, will be premiering Argentinean composer Aitana Kasulin's new tuba work 'Titubeando' in New Zealand later this year.

Aitana Kasulin, who studied composition at the 'Argenine Catholic University' and also with Walter Zimmermann at "Die Hochshule der Kunste' in Berlin, contacted Ryan last month about the new tuba work.

"I am really excited about working on and performing 'Titubeando' here in New Zealand and look forward to working with Aitana again in the near future," says Ryan.

As a professor, Kasilin has worked at the “Instituto Universitario Nacional de Artes, Universidad Nacional de Quilmes, Conservatorio Superior de la ciudad de Bs.As. She has also received several distinctions from Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Instituto Nacional del Teatro, Senat Verwaltung Berlin, for her compositions.

Ryan, who is a full-time musician with the New Zealand Army Band based in Christchurch, will be traveling to Auckland this month to start rehearsals with Dalewool Auckland Brass before heading to Dunedin with the band for the New Zealand National Brass Band Contest.
