My son, going into first grade received his first pair of glasses yesterday (Wallyworld optical was open the 4th.) Although borderline a year ago, his astigmatism is now severe enough that they are mandatory.
He is worried about looking stupid or like a nerd. My wife already showed him a picture of Clark Kent aka Superman and that helped.
How many other cool guys or tough guys can you think of that wear glasses? (Elton John notwithstanding

I found some shades with the bottom half of the lenses clear glass that were good under bright stage lighting where I had to read something.
Now I have shades with clear bifocal readers on the lower half. They look good but wearing them while climbing down offstage can trip you up.
Gots to look cool!

What, billions and billions aren't enough?

After looking at all the replies on this thread, I've come to the conclusion that glasses are indeed dorky.
Sunglasses don't count, by the way.

I finally went through each and every picture in this thread with my son. I explained to him who each person was, to the best of my knowledge. His favorite picture is below. He laughed at that one and said, "He's funny!" Now for the moment of truth...
