Any recording suggestions?

Post by tubafatness »

In the next year, I am supposed to be playing, with my local Youth Symphony, the original verson of "Die Meistersinger." I was wondering if anyone would have some good suggestions as to what recording I should look into buying, so that I can get a good idea of what the part should sound like. All I have is the Pokorny Orch. Excerpts version, which isn't a bad start at all. But I would like to hear the whole thing, not just the tuba part.
Thanks,
Aaron "Tubafatness" Hynds

Reiner Conducts Wagner/Chicago Symphony Orc.

The absolute best played and best recorded version(for low brass afficianadoes) that I have ever heard. Jacobs et al in their prime.
