Tuba Quartet piece "Power" ever heard of it?

Post by tubaplyer »

I played a piece with a tuba quartet at Auburn entitled Power. It looked almost hand written and I think it was written by Smith but I can't find it any where. Does anyone have it or ever heard of it?

I played a piece entitled "Power" in a small tuba/euph ensemble. Really neat piece. Had a low of power :D

I was composed by John Stevens, I believe for the Sotto Voce Quartet.

"Power" has been around for a long time (longer than Sotto Voce I believe). It's a standard, and for good reason. It's a fun piece to play and encourages really good habbits with in a tuba / euph ensemble.

Power is arguably the #1 tuba quartet piece of all times.Written by John Stevens probably in the late 70s or very early 80s and recorded brilliantly by Soto Voce along with all his other quartet pieces. "Viva Voce" is a must have.

Power is a great piece for tuba quartet. It is not very difficult, and with a 2 + 2 setup, can be even easier. Here is a link for purchase:

Hope this helps.
