Anyone out there try an online savings account like HSBCdirect (5.05%, $1 minimum balance, no fees) or INGdirect (4.35%, no minimum, no fees)? They sure beat the > 1% that my normal bank gives.

Don't know about checking, but we've bought CD's through ING Direct for several years. Better rates than the banks in town (or my broker for that matter) and no problems.

I'm not crazy about 'online' banks - just my personal preference. But I periodically move any savings I have in my credit union acct. to an Edward Jones Money Market Acct. They're currently paying 4.58%. This rate fuctuates with T-bills each week. I'm pretty sure you can get MM accts paying close to this rate several places.
