Disney hires college musicians for the winter and summer months. They normally do a college tour where you can audition (so check with a college near you). The summer one is called the All-American College Band (one in Anaheim and one in Orlando) and the winter group is comprised of the Christmas Brass, a Quintet, and Toys...all these groups double in the parades you speak of as something else (green army men, etc.) along with the pro band. Here is a link about the summer thing.

As far as the winter thing goes...they normally do a tour through FL because they actually start rehearsing in October (I heard it was Sept. this year). So the audition would be sometime early on in the semester. Sometimes you only get a few days notice. They tend to hire college students (not high school), but I am sure a selected few have sneaked in from time to time. Hope this helps!!

Amongst aviators it is often said that any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. It's an even better landing when you can reuse the airplane.

I don't know if this was an error in the person posting the link to the AFM site, but the dates on those auditions are from 3 years ago. There hasn't been an opening in the Army Field Band for euphonium since then, so you might want to get some up-to-date info.

Hope this helps.

You sir, are correct! I should have looked more carefully at the dates. (Senior Moment)

Local 389 can be a good source about available music jobs at Disney, however, one should only call if they're serious about seeking a job. (The mouse does not like trolls.)

hey, I played in the college christmas program a couple years ago. I'll let you know when I find out the dates for this year. There's actually an audition for a 2 day band this monday, but that has nothing to do with the student auditions. Last year they held the auditions in late September. It was a lot of fun, you should try. the auditions take place on different days usually at UCF, UF, FSU, FAMU, USF, and Bethune-Cookman. It's open to brass (no euph sorry), percussion, and girls that play glock. Larry Hendrixson is the head of the program and can be contacted at larry.hendrixson@disney.com
