See a rectangular open spot on the lower left quadrant?
Well, it's not really there! That area has the same young trees that the area around it has--I know this area like the back of my hand--I planted it myself about 12 years ago--and I stood where that patch is today.
Anyone have any idea what gives? Is this some sort of digital watermark?

Well, that's what I thought--so I hiked over and it's not there--it's just a bunch of young trees, just like the area around it. Most of the trees here have been planted at 10' spacing, so it'd be very noticeable--and about the size of a semi trailer.
Very strange.
For you city, folk, this is a satellite photo of some forested land--you won't see cars, houses, roads, sidewalks or anything else except weeds, dirt and trees.
If you divide the image into quadrants, the area I'm talking about is the well-defined lighter rectangular area in the lower right-hand quandrant.
I know they overlap their images and it could have something to do with that but you know it could be the blur from an airplane or something like that! A real UFO?

Some pictures of areas near where I live were more than 12 years old until a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps this little rectangle is from an older picture and that area just hasn't been photographed again?
Stranger things have happened...

If the photo had been more than 12 years old, you'd see nothing but a thick overstory of 30 year old trees. I put this photo (based on others in the same vicinity) at about 3 years ago.
Chuck,
I had my wife, who is a GeoSpatial Intelligence Analyst, look at the imagery. It appears to be a name stamp put on by google. If you look at it from the right hand side, almost flat at the monitor, you can see it. There is a similar mark in the upper right hand corner. She wants to know if she can have your grid coordinates to look it up herself, more so out of curiousity now.

I've PM-ed a link to you. Yeah, you're right--I can just make out "gle" to the right of the spot.
