PT88/LM4 and a big horn? the good, the bad, the ugly.

Post by thedeep42 »

I know it's a popular mouthpiece, but tell me about your experiences with the PT88. Same for the LM4 which on the website is compared to the pt88. if you have spent some time on both and have some comments, that would rock. :) They'd be going into a 5/4 Rudy. cheers

Wrong (I don´t know, snarly ? raw?) sound for me and my horn, still too little bore to produce the HUGE sonic cloud that´s in my head.

Just 'coz I've honked big rotaries all my life, I'll throw another one into the mix - a LOUD LM-10. Prolly too much on a peashooter, but with an attenuator like a 5/4 Rudy, it might give you more control over the big axe. I used to use a PT-88 on a PT-6 rotary, and for me, I just couldn't get enough heat out of the sound with it. I think the last piece I was using on that axe before I sold it was a PT-64, which as I understand it, many actually use more as an F-tuba mouthpiece.

Just my $.02, but I've always felt like big horns need slapping around a little more than they need gentle caressing.

Show that horn who's boss!!

SSSSNAP!!!
